Every ROS Legacy Mode Explained: Ranked, Hero Clash, Death Race, Train and ROStopia
The mode select decoded: what each returning mode actually is, who it suits, and the order to try them in.

CONTENTS On this page
The mode select screen is a small museum that plays: five ways to use the island, each with its own crowd. This guide explains each mode as it actually plays, so you can pick by mood instead of by artwork. If the game is not installed yet, the file waits on the ROS Legacy download page.
Ranked and classic battle royale
The main event: solo, duo or squads on the island (and The Flord when downloaded), with ranked seasons for players who want stakes attached. This is the mode the whole game balances around, and the one to learn first.
Hero Clash and Death Race
Hero Clash bends the formula with superpowered heroes and a faster, louder battlefield; it is the mode for players who love the island but want comic-book physics with their gunplay. Death Race puts four players into armed vehicles for vehicular chaos: part race, part demolition, all noise.
Train and ROStopia
Train runs as a casual favourite with its own map mechanics built around the railway, a change of geometry that refreshes every habit the island taught you. ROStopia rounds the select out as the community's sandbox corner. Try them in this order: classic, Train, Hero Clash, Death Race, and keep ROStopia for long evenings with friends. Five modes, one island, and a ROS Legacy for every mood you own.
Keep driving
Quick Answers
Which mode should a new player start with?
Classic battle royale, casual. It teaches the island every other mode borrows.
Is Death Race a racing mode or a shooter mode?
Both at once: four-player armed vehicle chaos where driving and shooting share the wheel.
Do modes share my account progress?
Your account and settings carry across the game; ranked standing belongs to ranked play.
